Request
Subject: Freedom of Information Request - Leisure Centres Dear Sir/Madam Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would like to request the following information: Please could you confirm: 1. Whether your leisure centres are held by a charitable trust and 2. Whether you receive charitable or other business rate reliefs on your leisure assets?
Response
Our leisure centres are not held by a charitable trust. Oxford City Council owns them, but a contract is tendered for their operation and maintenance.
We do not receive charitable relief or other reliefs on our leisure assets. Under the terms of rateable occupation, liability falls to the contractor and any reliefs are considered accordingly.
For those where the reliefs are applicable charitable relief, retail relief and empty property relief are applied (Please see attached).
