FOI release

Voter ID statistics for May 2 elections

Case reference FOI2024/00570

Published 21 May 2024

Request

Please could you send me your council's voter ID statistics for the elections on May 2, as soon as the figures become available. I understand that local authorities involved in running the elections have been asked by the Electoral Commission to collect this data, and that there is no issue making this data public once it has been compiled. Several councils have already published their statistics online and others have made them available to me on request. The data I would like is: 1. The total number of polling station electors who applied for, but at least initially were not issued with, a ballot paper 2. The total number of polling station electors who were not issued with a ballot paper and who later returned with accepted ID and were issued with a ballot paper 3. The total number of polling station electors who applied for but were not issued with a ballot paper by close of poll (Note: the totals for 2 and 3 should add up to the total for 1) Could you also send me the additional contextual data: 4. The total number of electors who were eligible to vote in person at the polling stations 5. The total number of voters issued with a ballot paper at polling stations My understanding is I do not need to ask for any of this data through a Freedom of Information request. Please let me know if you have any questions or need me to clarify any details. Many thanks in advance.
