FOI release

Temporary Accomodation Spend

Case reference FOI2023/00531

Published 26 January 2024

Request

Specifically, I would like to ask the following: 1. In the financial year of 23/24, as of 13.11.23, how much has your council spent on providing temporary accommodation and, if the figure is known, how much is the council projected to spend by the end of the financial year? 2. In the financial year 22/23, how much did your council spend on providing temporary accommodation? If you are able to breakdown by month-by-month, we would be grateful, but please disregard this if it takes us over the cost threshold.

Response

Response

OCC, as with most Local Authorities, has seen a large increase in the number of homeless households seeking help and requiring temporary accommodation.

1. In the financial year of 23/24, as of 13.11.23, how much has your council spent on providing temporary accommodation and, if the figure is known, how much is the council projected to spend by the end of the financial year?

The spend assigned to providing temporary accommodation to date is £357,262.20, however, there are substantial payments pending and the costs for this year are predicted to be much higher than 22/23.

Although costs are kept to a minimum, due to the large numbers approaching OCC for housing, it is not possible to predict with any accuracy the likely spend this year.

2. In the financial year 22/23, how much did your council spend on providing temporary accommodation?

£698,758.92
